Salem Eagle, a conservative publishing company conveniently located near Union Station in Washington, DC, has an immediate opening for an experienced Senior Graphic Designer who is ready to move their career to the next level and contribute to an award-winning graphic design team. 

The Salem Eagle graphic design team plays a strategic role in communicating and promoting the products/services of our diverse divisions that include publishing more than fifty books on the New York Times bestseller list, with numerous books at #1, financial publications, and health products and information.

Key responsibilities include:

• Work with Art Director and internal clients to concept, create and translate business goals and expectations into compelling design and crisp production of projects
• Contribute to a productive working relationship between internal and external clients
• Research, quote, and acquire photos/art as needed
• Possess and/or develop efficient and effective ways to speed the production process without losing sight of work quality
• Flexible and congenial personality to work in a collaborative team environment as well as an ability to work independently to achieve departmental goals

Key qualifications include:

• Bachelor’s degree in graphic design or related field with 5-10 years of design and production experience in print (~75%) and digital media (~25%)
• Strong creative, concepts and design with excellent typography and font knowledge; book covers and interior layout/production experience, a plus
• Have a proven portfolio of printed work, including book covers and interiors, newsletters, logos/branding, direct mail packages and various other collateral
• Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud, including multi-page InDesign files, style sheets, etc., as well as basic MS Office products
• Must have a complete understanding of the print production process including but not limited to: preparing best practices press-ready files, spec’ing paper stocks, cmyk and spot color use, foil stamps, embossing, and special finishing
• Basic understanding of CSS and HTML using Dreamweaver and WordPress to make changes on landing pages
