Salem Web Network (SWN) is seeking a senior editor focused on adding Bible study materials to our diverse pallet of Christian lifestyle content. The Senior Editor will be responsible for the day-to-day management of our online brand BibleStudyTools.com and well as the production of bible study content for several SWN brands and websites. The right candidate will be excited by the idea of delivering the highest quality content to a Christian audience and will be looking for innovative ways to improve the audience experience with BibleStudyTools.com in particular.

 

As a senior editor, you will direct the selection of appropriate content for inclusion on the websites as well as work with our development, design and marketing departments to create the best possible online experience for our audience. You will assist in the production of online video interviews. You will manage several blogs and online publications and many basic website functions for BibleStudyTools.com. Daily duties will include writing, interfacing with freelancers and content providers, editing and uploading articles, responding to audience questions and running a brand Facebook page. You will become a contributor to the vision of the SWN editorial team.

 

Qualifications:

 

The ideal candidate:

 

  • Must be a self-starter, highly organized and detail-oriented with experience managing large editorial or web projects. Will display a strong work ethic and operate productively in a team environment.  

  • Will have a bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience) with at least 5 years of experience in a related editorial, media or communications field.

  • Must have solid writing and editing skills, and experience writing on deadline.

  • Must demonstrate editorial innovation and creativity.

  • Must demonstrate an understanding of our evangelical Christian audience members’ interests, behavior, and core values.

  • Must demonstrate advanced understanding of the history, influence and make-up of the Bible and recognized Bible study materials.

  • Must be conversant in socio-cultural issues impacting the Christian Church.

  • Will display a basic understanding of online etiquette and best practice.

  • Will display an ability to interact productively with both corporate and religious communities.

  • Experience conducting interviews on camera a plus.

  • Experience running a Facebook page for a commercial or non-profit entity a plus.
