Job Title: Special Education Teacher – Elem/Middle School
Department: Education
Supervised by: Education Director
1) Instructional/Classroom Management – For Your Classroom: Weight 70%
2) Professionalism and Professional Development: Weight 20%
3) Such other reasonable and related activities as assigned by the Education Director. Weight 10%
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
1) 21 years of age or older.
2) Have Maryland teaching certification in General and Special Education in appropriate grade levels.
3) Demonstrate maturity level leadership abilities conducive to maintaining a controlled therapeutic classroom environment.
4) Have appropriate college degree(s) and additional education required to maintain certification and have a broad academic base in appropriate grade level curriculum areas. This position will complete and carry out individual and group instruction for Math and Science Subjects.
5) Must be able to function in a team environment to successfully complete objectives.
6) Must be able to maintain a high degree of loyalty, determination and confidentiality.
7) Must accept and affirm a Judeo-Christian world view in both personal and professional life. This affirmation includes agreement with the Cedar Ridge statement of faith, the personal practice of spiritual disciplines, and behaviors consistent with traditional moral values.
8) Must pass a detailed background investigation that includes:
a) Passing a health screening which may include drug testing.
b) Verification of Business and Personal References.
c) Verification of Driver license with a good driving record.
d) Police/FBI/Child Protective Services background investigations.
We are multi-faceted organization located in Williamsport, Maryland with 4 distinct ministry areas: Residential Facility for at-risk teenage boys, non-public Special Education School, listener-supported Radio station WCRH, and Adventures Ropes Course. In all areas, we aim at making a difference in the lives of those we serve by sharing the love of Christ and enhancing their physical, emotional and spiritual well-being.
